One of the biggest Danish Music sensations in recent years, The Asteroids Galaxy Tour consists of singer Mette Lindberg and producer Lars Iversen. The band have received international attention after their single The Golden Age was used in a commercial for Heineken. Their sound can best be described as 70s rock/pop. Mette has appeared as a contestant on the BBC music quiz Never Mind The Buzzcocks. The band recently released their new album Out of Frequency, which got a 4* review in the Danish Music magazine, Gaffa. Listen to the latest single Heart Attack above, and if you like what you hear, check them out on iTunes.

  2. The Raveonettes – Last Dance – Danish Music

February 2, 2012 by Danish Music

The Raveonettes first came to prominence in the early 00′s. The band consists of Sune Rose Wagner and Sharin Foo. Their lo-fi Phil Spector-ish sound caught the attention of Rolling Stone at one of their first performances at the SPOT festival in Denmark. Since then, the band has toured the world many times over supporting big name acts. More recently, Sharin Foo has acted as a judge on the Danish music competition The Voice, alongside Aqua’s Lene Nystrøm. Last Dance perfectly shows off their most recent sound.

  3. CALLmeKAT – Bug in a Web – Danish Music

January 8, 2012 by Danish Music

Today at Danish Music, we bring you CALLmeKAT from Copenhagen. Having grown up in the Danish countryside, she was always drawn towards playing old and used instruments. Her music features vintage keyboards and synths, which has attracted the attention of not only the Danish music press, but also the American blogosphere. An impressive feat, considering both her albums have been self-released. She is currently working on another album with members of Au Revoir Simone.

  4. Oh Land – Sun of a Gun – Danish Music

January 6, 2012 by Danish Music

One of the biggest Danish music exports over the past year has been Oh Land, AKA Nanna Øland Fabricius. This New York based singer/songwriter first gained critical acclaim in Denmark for her debut album, Fauna, which was likened to some of Björks earlier work. Oh Land made a big splash on the international scene with her second album, Oh Land, for which she went on an extensive international tour and supported Katy Perry on her Teenage Dream tour. One of the first names to notice her stateside was Pharrell, who ended up producing the song We Turn It Up on her latest album. Check out the video, and if you like what you hear, then give the albums a listen.

  5. Fallulah – Bridges – Danish Music

January 5, 2012 by Danish Music

Danish Music presents to you 26 year old Fallulah, a Danish-Romian singer/songwriter. Her music infuses influences by Florence and the Machine and Marina & The Diamonds with balkan beats. Bridges was the most frequently played Danish song in 2010 on P3 Radio in Denmark, and in 2011 she won the P3 Prize at the P3 Guld Awards. Fallulah has been credited with bringing a more indie sensibility to the Danish pop landscape. Fallulah is just starting to gain international attention, having supported Ed Sheeran on his French tour in 2011. We definitely recommend her album The Black Cat Neighbourhood, and we’re sure we’ll be hearing more from her in 2012.
